Comments:	Good news indeed!I graduated just in nick of time in 1994 and the following year they closed.It was sad to know that my alma matter no longer existed and that I could not tour my children anymore in the future to show proudly where I studied and came from.But now with the re-opening,though with a new name,that chance will no longer be impossible. Tacloban City will economically benefit from this as well as Leytenos and Samarenos who will no longer seek refuge far far away from home just to get quality education. Comments:	Thanks God for the SVD Fathers, they accredited Divine Word University before, that, when I came to work with the County of Los Angeles 17 yrs ago, my transcript was readily acceptable to them without any further documentation requirement of my education. When the university closed, the school accreditation may have went with it. I hope the new administration will work to restore that for the benefit of the new graduates. Now, Liceo Divini or Univ of Tacloban, the Divine Word University had been more a prestigious name.

It has been done, i. e., the signing of an Agreement between the Union and the SVD Administration last Feb. 21, c/o Arhbishop Pedro Dean with the full support of the Papal Nuncio. My Tita Sara Caballes remarked that it would have been more appropriate to have the signing the day before - Feb. 20 - because that was the real foundation day of DWU. Feb. 21 was the birthday of Archbp. Dean, and perhaps that was one of the factors deciding the date of the signing. At any rate, it has been accomplished, and let us all hope, pray and contribute so DWU, resurrected as the Liceo, will again assume its role of giving quality Catholic education to the people of Leyte and Samar.

Comments:	Congratulations on the opening of Liceo del Verbo Divini (actually the re-opening of DWU which was once St. Paul's College! I was born in Tacloban but didn't study at SPC/DWU. We lived close by (Paterno St.) and we went to the Chapel for masses and attended programs/shows, etc. at the Hangar (that gives a clue to my age). My brother Juan Bosco Ledesma studied there. My other brother Jose Luis "Papoose" was close to the priests because he was an XVD. He would have been happy about the re-opening of the school but unfortunately, he passed away last December. Comments:	Great news! It seems DWU will finally open again as Liceo del Verbo Divino, and this will be announced this Feb. 21, 2006, on the birthday of Mons. Pedro Dean, the Archbishop of Palo, Leyte. Details are not yet clear at the moment, but the DWU Jubilee Foundation Board will meet Feb. 13, 2006, to discuss and plan how DWU alumni, staff and friends can help DWU in its second lease of life. We will keep you posted thru this website, and I hope, that when the call to greatness comes - in the form of the grand effort to resurrect our beloved Alma Mater - everybody will pitch in and join, contributing according to his pocket and his conscience. Comments:	Hi, DWU people! Last November, 2004, I had the good fortune to visit the US. I was in San Francisco area, and attended the 60th Leyte Landing celebrations, attended by Leyte people from all over. It seemed that around 80% of the attendees were from DWU, including Congressman Bembem Noel. They all wanted DWU to reopen. I stayed in the house of Kenneth and Naida Price.... I also visited Fr. Ray Quetchenback in Techny, Illinois, and Fr. Joe Detig in Trenton, New Jersey. They were all glad to see me, an XVD. I also visited Fr. Pip Galang in Sta. Clara County in San Francisco. We all recalled with nostalgia the glorious days of DWU.... By the way, the SVD have renamed DWU Liceo de Verbo Divino, or Divine Word Lyceum, in English.... I don't know whether they are operating. But the Benedictine school is flourishing. Perhaps we should put together an effort to help the new DWU even under its new name... What do you think, folks?

DWU has not re-opened yet, but according to one of the postings below, the Benedictine Sisters are slowly taking over the DWU campus by opening up their own Catholic school, which is a branch of St. Scholatisca's College of Manila. Sr. Eloisa David, OSB, MD, is the person behind this. I would like to extend my congratulation to Sister Eloisa and her team and I Pray to God that Leytenos will support her at this very hard task of keeping DWU to be back on track again.

Let's hope and Pray that Sister Eloisa will be given more strength and courage specially in the years to come when DWU will hopefully be back to the way it used to be (Full of smartly dressed and cheeky students!):0). Pretty sure DWU will once again flourish with the help of our God Almighty through the Benedictines Sisters. Sister Eloisa, (if you have a chance to read this), I still remember your sweet smile. I used to attend the vespers at St Paul's Hospital every 6.00p.m. and I really miss it now including the Holy Retreat at DWU with SISTER BENILDA and few other students from different departments.
